dog ruffined policies:

Your pet is very important to us. Dog Ruffined, LLC would like to assure you that every effort will be made to make your pets grooming experience as safe and pleasant as possible. Safety comes first for everyone, people as well as the pets, during the grooming process.

ACCIDENTS

Grooming equipment is sharp, and although we use extreme caution and care in all situations, possible problems could occur including cuts, nicks, scratches, skin irritations, etc.. Most accidents occur when a pet is wiggly, uncooperative for the groom, or heavily matted. Your pet’s safety and comfort is our number one priority. In the event an accident does occur, you will be notified of the accident. If Dog Ruffined, LLC feels it is serious, and the owner is not on-site, Dog Ruffined, LLC will seek immediate veterinary care for your pet. All veterinary costs will be at the pet owners expense.

HEALTH OR MEDICAL PROBLEMS

Occasionally, grooming can expose a hidden medical problem or aggravate a current one. This can occur during or after grooming. All medical expenses for veterinary care will be covered by the pets owner.

VETERINARIAN AUTHORIZATION - MEDICAL EMERGENCIES

This contract gives Dog Ruffined, LLC full authorization to seek medical treatment from nearest veterinarian in the case of any medical emergencies while in the care of Dog Ruffined, LLC. All veterinarian costs and expenses will be the responsibility of the petss owner.

CURRENT VACCINATIONS

Pets must be up to date on Rabies and we strongly recommend discussing with your veterinarian all other vaccinations your pet may need. Proof of rabies must be given prior to a grooming appointment. Please text or email copies of vaccination records for our file.

FLEAS / TICKS

We use an all natural flea shampoo that does not contain pesticides. This will kill what fleas are on your pet, but it will not prevent more fleas from getting back on your pet. We recommend following up with a topical flea treatment 2 days after your pets bath. Please speak to your vet for the best flea preventative for your pet.

We do not offer tick removal. If your pet has ticks, please seek treatment from your veterinarian prior to your grooming appointment.

DANGEROUS OR AGGRESSIVE ANIMALS - REFUSAL OF SERVICE

Dog Ruffined, LLC has the right to refuse any services at any time. In the event that your pet is too stressed or becomes dangerous to groom, Dog Ruffined, LLC has the right to refuse grooming services, stop grooming services, or cancel grooming services at any time before, during, or after grooming and client will be charged a grooming fee (for what was done up until that point).

USE OF MUZZLES

Muzzling does not harm your pet and protects both the animal and the groomer. In some cases, muzzling may even calm a stressed pet, allowing the grooming process to continue. If an animal still acts in a way that is dangerous, Dog Ruffined, LLC has the right to stop grooming services at any time and a service fee will be collected. We do not muzzle unless your pet gives us a reason to. Other methods are used to calm your pet, muzzling is a last resort.

MATTED COATS

Pets with severely matted coats require extra attention. Mats in a pet’s coat grow tight, and can ultimately damage and tear the pet's skin, which provides a breeding ground for parasite infestations. Dog Ruffined, LLC will not cause serious or undue stress to your pet by de-matting. Mats can be very difficult to remove, and may require the pet to be shaved. Removing a heavily matted coat can cause nicks, cuts or abrasions due to the tightness of the mats against the skin. Heavy matting can also trap moisture and urine near the pet's skin allowing mold, fungus or bacteria to grow, producing skin irritations that existed prior to the grooming process. After- effects of mat removal procedures can include itchiness, skin redness, self-inflicted irritations or abrasions and failure of the hair to regrow. In some cases, pets may also exhibit brief behavioral changes. Prevention is the best defense by scheduling regular grooming appointments, every 4-6 weeks. If your pet needs to be shaved to remove matting, you acknowledge that you agree to this procedure, and any risk. There will be an additional charge for this process: it is time consuming, and causes extra wear and tear on grooming equipment. The additional charge can be estimated by groomer prior to appointment.

CANCELLATIONS / NO CALL / NO SHOW

Cancellations/Change in service and/or time- must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Cancellations within 24 hours of your appointment will be charged 50% of the requested service.

  • When a service is requested and booked, the service is for that specific dog or those specific dogs. Adding services and/or dogs to an existing service/booking within 24 hours of the scheduled service will not be accepted. If you have questions or concerns about adding services and/or extra dogs within 24 hours, please correspond with us via text or email. When the groomer arrives, they will not be able to change the service or number of dogs at that time.

Because we book on an hourly basis and cancellations can leave an empty block in the schedule that could have otherwise been used by another customer, we ask that any salon cancellations are made at least 24 business hours in advance. Cancellations/Changes to the appointment= must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Cancellations within 24 hours of your appointment will be charged the full price of the requested service to compensate for time set aside for your appointment. This charge must be paid before another appointment can be made for another service.

PAYMENT

Payment is due at time the service is completed. We accept cash, checks, American Express, Visa, MasterCard & Discover. For the safety of our mobile groomers, we do not carry any change. If you are paying in cash, please have the exact amount.

SATISFACTION

Your satisfaction is important to us. If you are unhappy for any reason, and would like something adjusted, we will be happy to make any adjustments when we return your pet from his/her appointment. Once, however, we leave your house from the appointment, any return visits will be treated as a new appointment and client will be charged a grooming fee.

A note on products:

If your dog has sensitive skin and you are trying to avoid dyes, fragrances, and common chemicals that can often trigger an allergic reaction, you could be interested in a hypoallergenic shampoo. Technically the term “hypoallergenic” doesn’t have a legal meaning. Neither ordinary shampoos nor hypoallergenic shampoos are regulated. (Some shampoos that claim to treat an ailment are regulated by the FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine; flea and tick shampoos are regulated by the EPA.)

Companies that make hypoallergenic shampoos are usually trying to convey the idea that their products are made without ingredients that often cause a negative reaction in dogs with sensitive skin. However, since there is no legal definition of “hypoallergenic,” none of these products can be guaranteed to be completely free of allergens. That’s not how allergens work. Your dog could be allergic to an ingredient that is completely unique to him. Perhaps no other dog is allergic to that ingredient. It’s virtually impossible for a company to guarantee that one of their products will never cause a reaction in a dog.

All of this means that when it comes to choosing a hypoallergenic shampoo for your dog you should do the following:

  • Know which ingredients are most likely to cause your dog to have a reaction;

  • Read product labels carefully so you can avoid ingredients that would bother your dog;

  • Look for shampoos that don’t contain common allergens.
